Marta Silvera Roig is a lecturer and researcher at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and holds a PhD in Cognitive Sciences of Language. Her work brings literary studies into dialogue with cognitive linguistics and semiotics to explore how narratives shape experience and the worlds we inhabit. Her research pays particular attention to the role of embodiment, emotion and imagination in meaning-making, and to the connections between myth, landscape and island imaginaries.
A member of the DiCoS-ULPGC and SIIM-UCM research groups, she has co-edited Cognitive and Intermedial Semiotics and organised the international conference Mythical Archipelagos: Islands, Narratives, and Imaginaries Across Cultures and Media. Her recent research on La Palma examines narratives of loss, memory and the reconstruction of place, in dialogue with architecture and landscape studies.
